The Prayer Room
The Prayer Room is a place on campus that has been set up for Teen Mania to go and pray united as one on specific topics or even just to spend some quiet time with our Savior. Partnering with The School of Worship we have undergrad bands that play an hour there each week. They have been paired with a staff member or Graduate Intern that will help lead that set’s prayer focus.
Prayer and Worship- the two don’t have to be separate, they can be one. This is the model of the Prayer Room. “Harp & Bowl” symbolizes “Worship with Prayer”. This is modeled on the Biblical model found in 1 Chr. 22–24. King David was the first to institute worship and music to temple sacrifices and prayers lifted up. He hired thousands of singers and musicians to minister before the Lord day and night. In the gospels (Luke 18:7) it says, “Will not God grant justice to his elect who cry out to him day and night?” Prayer is powerful.
As a ministry we are not only putting on life-changing events to reach this generation across the world but we are also covering it with prayer and fasting. We are also coming together to pray for specific prayer focuses throughout the week. If you check out the schedule you can see that certain hours are designated with prayer focuses where we pray as a group of people for those topics. Other times are just “iTunes” where we have worship music playing. And there are other times we have “Worship with the Word” which is just an atmosphere of live worship and meditating and reading of scripture.
Here is something important that what we need to understand. Prayer is not one-sided. Its not just about you having a “quiet time.” There is a time for that but we need to remember to cry out on behalf of many other issues.
“Intercession” is standing in the gap on behalf of a place or person. We encourage you to come pour yourself out on the altar and pray. In the Prayer Room is a wall full of prayer requests from the internship. Read these, pray over them, be burdened by real life issues that are happening with the people we live with day to day. Homeless families, parents in witch craft, broken homes, dying relatives, these are real issues and we need to use the weapon the Lord has equipped us with to fight….PRAYER!
